Review of Poetry for the Heart by Christine Rice

I enjoyed reading this selection of poetry. The majority of the writings seem geared toward authors. I would call this book “Poetry for the Writer’s Heart.” My favorite poems are “The Self” and “I Dream.” I appreciate the inspirational words written. This would be the perfect book for an extra boost on a difficult day.

Review - Cane Expressions

When I told my husband that I had applied to review cane covers, he thought I was crazy. Really, anyone would wonder since I am able bodied. Here's the answer: my mother-in-law. She has increased difficulty walking. She uses a cane, a walker and sometimes a wheelchair to get around. I made a cute walker bag for her that also works on her wheelchair. I figure that it's time her cane get some attention too. Canes are pretty boring. I saw this product and was amazed at the selection. I honestly have never thought of this idea before. Now that I have been introduced to cane expressions, it seems only logical. Our baby boomer generation is heading to this stage in life and this is a great option for personalization.

My choice for my mother in law is the zebra.

I would suggest looking at the Cane Expressions website. It will open a new world of cane accessorizing.

Review - Total Nutrition

Today I received my package to taste "Total Nutrition." I was anxious to try this out because my husband and I are smoothie fans and are always looking for ways to make them more nutritious. I made my smoothie with orange juice and frozen berries ( a classic combination for me). The taste of the smoothie was too vegetable oriented. I wasn't a fan of it with juice. If I was juicing vegetables, I believe that this supplement would work well.

Total Nutrition is comprised of:  Barley Grass, Wheat Grass, Spirulina, Spinach, Alfalfa Leaf, Kelp, Dulse Leaf, Barley Grass Juice, Orange Peel, Beet Root, Dandelion Leaf, Lemon Peel, Gingko Leaf, Wheat Grass Juice, Maca Root, Cacao, Ashwagandha, Sacha Inchi, Manuka Honey, Bee Pollen, Reishi Mushroom, Blueberry, Black Currant, Wild Bilberry, Wild Lingonberry, Aronia, Pomegranate, Concord Grape, Red Raspberry, Sour Cherry, Wild Elderberry, Wild Cranberry, Black Raspberry, Goji Berries and Schiznadra Berries.

'Too Much Information', all new technothriller by David Haskell - Review

The groundwork laid in the first half of "Too Much Information" was very detail oriented. So many couples are working these days that a conflict of interest of being on separate sides may occur. The relationship of this boyfriend and girlfriend was put to the test when they chose opposing sides of a class action lawsuit. I appreciate the willingness of this lawyer to take on corporate America for assist an employee with wrongful termination. This story took many unexpected twists and turns, some of which were hard to follow.  As our national security becomes more of an issue, this type of system doesn't seem too out of the ordinary. The story line of "big brother" always watching us is extremely true to life in recent years.

Review of Spirit of Lost Angels by Liza Perrat

The story of Victoire Charpentier was gripping. Reading of her struggles during the French revolutions, made this book difficult to put down. From the death of her mother and father and twin siblings, Victoire's quest for greatness was met with much struggle and heartache. The birth of her sweet Rubie had to be bittersweet. As a birthmother, I know of the decision making process that goes behind choosing a better life for your baby. Victoire was finally able to rise above her poverty thanks to a dear friend. As a playwright, Victoire took her political views to the stage. She knew of the danger that her life was in due to her connections and plays.

The author, Liza Perrat, paid close attention to detail in her description of the sights and smells of this early revolutionary time. I look forward to future books in this series.

Birthday cake for Livi

Little miss Livi will be 5 years old tomorrow. I have made several cakes for her throughout the past 5 years. Her mama, Andi. is my best friend. She thinks it's a hassle for me to do the cake but I love it! Plus, it's a special thing for Livi and I.

Here are a few from the past:

My original plan was to do a rectangle cake with the Hello Kitty face. It was going to be light pink frosting with dk pink and white dots. I baked the cake. It smelled delicious. When I turned the cake onto the cooling rack, it broke in half. I was not happy. Andi ran to the store to buy a generic cake so that I could make it into something wonderful. I'll get the before picture from her so you can compare to what I came up with.

This years Hello Kitty:

A surprise in my garden

This is my first year of gardening. The soil at our house is clay so we decided that box gardening was a good option. I made the mistake of putting 2 plants per square. My garden exploded. I tried to trim but it was too late. Oh well, better luck next year.

Rich went to pick veggies today and found a beautiful squash/zucchini hybrid. I thought I'd share.

Review of Morning Commute by Scott Zavoda

Morning Commute (Short story ebook)

This is my first review through Tomoson. I was chosen to review a book by this author. I love to read and love any opportunity to read something new.

The plot of this story was hilarious. It is typical of anyone who has to drive on the freeway during rush hour. I was off put by the profanity as I felt like it didn't add anything to the story.

Would I refer a friend? Maybe a few
